After 18 years of journalism with Nigerian Tribune, Oluwasegun Adebayo has moved on to a new chapter, joining Per Second News (PSN) as its Entertainment and Lifestyle Editor.
Adebayo announced his departure from Tribune in a reflective post on his Facebook page, describing his nearly two-decade journey as one that transformed him from a young intern with a notebook into an accomplished journalist and storyteller.

He recalled being introduced to the organisation by his aunt, Mummy Bukky, who was then a staff member.
Adebayo particularly remembered Alhaji Debo Abdulahi, who welcomed him into the newsroom and became one of the earliest mentors to shape his career. One of Abdulahi’s enduring instructions to him was to do his stories fully and leave the editing to him.
That relationship, he said, gave him the confidence to write, make mistakes and improve. Abdulahi also helped him acquire his first laptop, a gesture Adebayo described as an investment in his dream.
Over the years, he rose through the ranks from Reporter to Senior Reporter, Assistant Entertainment Editor and eventually Assistant Editor, handling responsibilities across Entertainment, Politics and Features.
He also acknowledged the influence of several editors, colleagues and mentors who contributed to his development, including Dapo Falade, Kunle Oderemi, Femi Osinusi, Wole Efunnuga, Dr Lasisi Olagunju, Sina Oladeinde and Jackson Udom, among others.
Adebayo’s Tribune years also earned him professional recognition, including two Nigeria Media Merit Awards.

Reflecting on his departure, he said Tribune was more than a workplace. It was where he spent much of his adult life, built lasting friendships, developed professionally and experienced major milestones in his personal life.
Leaving after 18 years, he said, was therefore emotional. Yet, he sees the transition as a new beginning rather than an end.

At PSN, Adebayo assumed duty as Entertainment and Lifestyle Editor on August 8, 2026, where he is expected to oversee entertainment, lifestyle, celebrity and social coverage while developing exclusive content for the publication’s growing audience.
He described the move as a change of platform, not a departure from storytelling.
“The instrument is changing, but the storyteller remains. The platform is changing, but the passion remains,” he wrote.
With his wealth of newsroom experience and strong entertainment contacts, Adebayo now begins a fresh chapter at PSN, taking with him the lessons and values accumulated during 18 years at Tribune.
