Sola Omotoso Remembers Mum, 9 Years After Her Death

Nine years after the death of Mama Chief Mrs. Elizabeth Dada Omotoso, JP, her son, Architect Sola Omotoso, MNIA, has paid an emotional tribute to his late mother, describing her as a woman whose love, values and legacy continue to shape his life.

Omotoso, the Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of Pleasant Design Concepts Limited (PDCL), reflected on the life of his mother as he marked the ninth anniversary of her passing.

In a heartfelt remembrance titled “Nine Years Without You, Yet Forever in My Heart,” Omotoso said the passage of time had eased the pain of losing his mother but had not diminished the love and memories she left behind.

“Not a day goes by without you crossing my mind,” he said, adding that her memory still occupies a special place in his heart.

He expressed gratitude to God for giving him a mother who raised him with love, faith, integrity, kindness and compassion, noting that those values continue to influence the man he has become.

Beyond being his mother, Omotoso described her as his confidant, best friend, greatest encourager and favourite person to “gist” with.

According to him, he could discuss anything with her without fear of judgment because she always knew the right words to say and had a remarkable ability to bring peace to difficult situations.

He also remembered her generosity and hospitality, recalling how her home was open to everyone and how she gave freely without expecting anything in return.

For Omotoso, his mother’s life demonstrated that true greatness goes beyond titles, wealth or material accomplishments.

“Your life taught us that true greatness is not measured by titles, wealth, or achievements, but by the lives we touch and the love we leave behind,” he wrote.

That legacy, he said, remains a priceless inheritance for the family and one they would continue to carry with pride.

Omotoso admitted that there are still moments when he wishes he could pick up the phone and hear his mother’s voice again.

He said he misses their conversations, her prayers, laughter, smile and the comfort that came from simply knowing she was there.

Reflecting on the years since her death, he said there had been many victories he wished he could have shared with her, as well as difficult moments when he longed for her counsel.

Despite her physical absence, Omotoso said his mother’s influence remains evident in the lives of her children and grandchildren.

“I hear your voice in the lessons you taught us. I see your values reflected in our lives. Your love continues to strengthen us, and your memory remains one of our greatest treasures,” he stated.

As the family remembers her nine years after her departure, Omotoso said the occasion comes with both tears and gratitude for a life well lived.

He celebrated his mother as a woman who loved deeply, served God faithfully and touched the lives of many during her lifetime.

Her impact, he noted, lives on not only in her children and grandchildren but also in everyone who had the privilege of encountering her.

Expressing his appreciation for her sacrifices, prayers, encouragement and acts of love, Omotoso said she gave the family a foundation that time could never erase.

He ended the tribute with a poignant prayer for his late mother to continue resting peacefully in the bosom of the Lord until they meet again.

“You are deeply missed, dearly loved, and forever remembered,” he wrote.
