Lagos-based Juju music star, Prince Abel Dosunmu, popularly known as Mega 9’9, has released the much-anticipated video for his album, Emajo Emayo.
The musician had last year unveiled the album alongside a new set of musical instruments, marking another chapter in his career and his continued commitment to Juju music.
At a time when music videos were becoming increasingly important to the promotion of albums, Mega 9’9 said he was determined to give his project a visual treatment that would meet contemporary standards.
According to the artiste, the changing face of the Nigerian entertainment industry had made it necessary for musicians to pay greater attention to the quality of their videos.
“As far as the entertainment industry in Nigeria is concerned, things have changed entirely. The standards of the videos the Hip-Hop artistes are releasing now are of international level. If you want to remain relevant and be respected by your fans, you have to think outside the box,” Mega 9’9 said.
He added that musicians could no longer afford to overlook the importance of quality visuals in promoting their music.
Less than a year after the release of Emajo Emayo, the seasoned musician has now followed up with its full-length video, featuring performances from the tracks contained in the two-sided album.
The new project further reflects Mega 9’9’s effort to sustain his place in the Juju music scene, a genre he has continued to promote through regular releases.
The artiste, who began his musical journey as a church choir member, has gradually built a career in the Nigerian music industry and developed a reputation for combining Juju sounds with gospel influences.
The Emajo Emayo video was recorded and directed by X-Walez and was shot at different locations in Lagos.
The production also gives the musician an opportunity to showcase the new musical equipment acquired alongside the album project.
Mega 9’9 has previously received recognition for his work, including awards in the Juju music category. His career has also seen him maintain a connection with gospel music, which remains an important part of his artistic identity.
Since its release, the Emajo Emayo video has continued to attract attention from music lovers and has received airplay on music platforms and stations.
Beyond his regular music releases, Mega 9’9 is also known for his annual gospel album project, Supplication, through which he continues to express his spiritual side and connect with his audience.
