Senator Sharafadeen Abiodun Alli has donated ₦25 million to traders affected by the recent fire outbreak at Bode Market in Oyo State, describing the intervention as part of his commitment to standing with residents during moments of hardship.The governorship candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC) made the announcement during a sympathy visit to the market, where he met with victims whose shops and goods were destroyed by the inferno.
Addressing the traders, Alli expressed sadness over the incident, noting that the loss of livelihoods and property had brought untold hardship to many families. He assured the victims that they were not alone in their time of distress and offered prayers for strength, resilience and a speedy recovery.
To provide immediate relief, the APC standard-bearer announced a ₦25 million donation to support the affected traders as they begin the process of rebuilding their businesses.
According to him, the gesture underscores his belief that leadership should extend beyond politics to offering practical support whenever people face unexpected challenges.
Alli also acknowledged the contribution of the Oyo State APC Women Leader, Adekemi Opatunde, who donated ₦5 million alongside 15,000 nose masks to assist the victims and promote health and safety within the market.
He commended Opatunde for what he described as a timely and compassionate intervention, saying her support reflected the party’s collective concern for the welfare of the affected traders.
The visit attracted party members, market leaders and residents, many of whom expressed appreciation for the donations and the show of solidarity.
The development was disclosed in a statement issued by the BSA Media team, which reiterated prayers for the affected traders and expressed optimism that they would recover from the losses and rebuild stronger businesses.
