Tawa Alli Empowers Micro-Businesswomen in Ashi Community, Preaches Commitment to Women’s Cause

Chief (Mrs.) Tawa Alli, wife of Senator Sharafadeen Abiodun Alli, the Oyo State APC governorship candidate for the 2027 election, has empowered micro-businesswomen in Ward 5, Ashi community, Ibadan North Local Government Area, while reaffirming her commitment to women’s economic advancement and grassroots development.

The empowerment programme, held on Thursday, attracted APC faithful, party leaders, community stakeholders and grassroots mobilisers. It provided an opportunity for the APC governorship candidate’s wife to engage directly with women at the community level and encourage them to remain committed to their businesses and the development of society.

She was warmly received by political leaders and residents of the area, led by the Baale of Ashi, Chief Abass, in an atmosphere that reflected the community’s enthusiasm for the visit.

Addressing the beneficiaries, Tawa Alli explained that although the cash support might appear modest, it was intended to provide practical assistance to the women in their respective businesses and help them sustain their livelihoods.
She emphasised that the gesture was not designed as a one-off intervention, promising to maintain contact with the beneficiaries and explore opportunities to support them from time to time.

According to her, empowering women at the grassroots level remains important because of their contributions to household welfare, economic activities and community development.

She urged the beneficiaries not to underestimate the value of small beginnings, encouraging them to remain focused on their businesses and use available opportunities to improve their economic circumstances.
Calls for Greater Commitment to Women’s Cause
Beyond the financial assistance, Tawa Alli challenged the women to demonstrate greater commitment to the advancement of women and become positive examples within their families and the wider society.

She stressed that the time had come for women to move beyond mere expectations and become actively involved in initiatives that could improve their circumstances and strengthen their influence in the community.

According to her, meaningful progress requires dedication, hard work and the willingness to encourage others to embrace positive ideas.

She also urged the women to intensify their grassroots engagement ahead of the 2027 general elections, particularly by communicating the qualities and political experience of her husband, Senator Sharafadeen Alli, to eligible voters.

Tawa Alli described the senator as a familiar figure in Ibadan North, where he hails from, arguing that his knowledge of the local government and experience in public service would be valuable if elected governor of Oyo State.

She maintained that his previous positions in government had equipped him with the experience required to understand the workings of public administration and respond to the expectations of the people.
Why Alli Can Hit the Ground Running — Tawa
Making a case for her husband’s governorship ambition, Tawa Alli highlighted his record in public service, including his tenure as chairman of a local government, Secretary to the State Government and Chief of Staff under the administration of former Oyo State Governor, Senator Rashidi Ladoja, who is now the Olubadan of Ibadanland.

She also referenced his experience in the private sector and his leadership responsibilities at Odu’a Investment Company Limited, where he has served as chairman.

According to her, these experiences have given the senator an understanding of governance, institutional administration and the demands of leadership.

She argued that such exposure would enable him to approach the responsibilities of the governorship with an appreciation of the state’s administrative structure and the needs of its people.
Tawa Alli urged the women to take their political responsibilities seriously by engaging voters, explaining their preferred candidate’s agenda and encouraging participation in the electoral process.

She further called on them to support all APC candidates in the 2027 elections, from the presidential and governorship contests to the Senate, House of Representatives and Oyo State House of Assembly.

She said coordinated support for candidates across the party’s ticket would, in her view, facilitate the implementation of its programmes and help deliver the dividends of democracy to the people.

APC Leaders Rally Support for Alli
The message of political mobilisation and support for Senator Alli was echoed by other prominent APC figures who addressed the gathering.

Dr. Balikis Junaid, APC Oyo State Auditor, and Mrs. Tinu Adigun, a former chairman of Ibadan North Local Government, took turns to highlight the senator’s leadership qualities, political experience and capacity for grassroots engagement.

They urged the women and other community stakeholders to remain active in political participation while making informed choices based on the candidates’ records, experience and commitments to public service.

Hon. Yinka Akinbode, another prominent political figure at the event, also joined other speakers in extolling Senator Alli’s political experience and leadership qualities.

In his address, the APC leader in Ward 5, Ashi, outlined what he described as the senator’s positive contributions to the community and appealed to residents to support him and the party.

He presented the call as an opportunity for the community to sustain its relationship with a political figure he believes understands its concerns and aspirations.

The gathering also served as a platform for strengthening ties between party leaders, grassroots mobilisers and residents, with speakers emphasising the importance of political participation and community engagement ahead of the next general elections.
Community Leaders Grace the Event
Among the prominent political and community figures who attended the programme were Barrister Adewale, a member of the Central Council of Ibadan Indigenes (CCII); Ward 5 Chairman, Hon. Safiu Saka; Chief Mrs. Toyin Yusuf; Ayinla Temilade; Nureni Alausa; Hon. Samson Adegoke; the Baale of Ashi, Chief Abass; and Deacon Adeyoju, alongside other party faithful and community stakeholders.

Their presence underscored the grassroots character of the gathering, which combined financial assistance for small-scale businesswomen with political engagement and calls for greater participation in community development.
For the beneficiaries, the immediate focus was the financial support intended to assist their businesses, while the broader message from the organisers centred on women’s economic participation, community solidarity and the importance of grassroots mobilisation.

Tawa Alli’s promise to maintain contact with the women also placed emphasis on continuity, with the beneficiaries encouraged to sustain their businesses and remain engaged with initiatives aimed at improving their livelihoods.
