Wife of the All Progressives Congress (APC) governorship candidate in Oyo State, Chief (Mrs.) Tawa Sharafadeen-Alli, has renewed her commitment to the global campaign against polio, declaring that sustained immunisation, public awareness and collective action remain critical to protecting children from the preventable disease.
Tawa Alli made the commitment after attending the Rotary Club of Ibadan’s Polio Ambassadors Award and Fundraising Ceremony, where she was recognised alongside other distinguished personalities for their contributions and commitment to the fight against polio.
In her reaction to the recognition, she described the gathering as an inspiring demonstration of what individuals and organisations can achieve when united by a common purpose, stressing that the campaign to eradicate polio requires sustained commitment beyond award ceremonies.
She noted that the honour was not merely a personal achievement but a reminder of the responsibility to intensify efforts towards a world where no child suffers the devastating consequences of the disease.
According to her, every contribution, act of generosity and strategic partnership brings humanity closer to achieving a polio-free world, making it imperative for stakeholders to remain committed to the cause.Tawa Alli also commended the Rotary Club of Ibadan and the organisers of the ceremony for their dedication to humanitarian service and their continued efforts to mobilise support for polio eradication.
She emphasised that meaningful change becomes possible when people work together, driven by the desire to save lives and secure a healthier future for generations to come.
“Ending polio is our collective responsibility. We must continue to support immunisation, strengthen public awareness, and encourage partnerships that leave no child behind,” she stated.
The APC governorship candidate’s wife further stressed that every child deserves the opportunity to grow, pursue their dreams and live a healthy life, urging individuals, community leaders and organisations to sustain their support for initiatives aimed at preventing the disease. Her remarks come amid renewed efforts by Rotary clubs in Ibadan to strengthen public awareness and vaccination campaigns, particularly as Nigeria and other countries continue working towards the global eradication of polio.
