Former Senate Leader, Senator Teslim Folarin, has reaffirmed his commitment to reconciliation and inclusive leadership within the Oyo State chapter of the All Progressives Congress (APC), declaring his readiness to put personal grievances aside in the interest of party unity ahead of the 2027 general elections.
Folarin made the declaration on Wednesday after meeting with an enlarged gathering of APC critical stakeholders in Oyo State, where discussions centred on rebuilding the party, resolving internal differences and strengthening its political structures ahead of the next electoral cycle.
Among the prominent APC stakeholders at the meeting were former Minister of Power, Chief Adebayo Adelabu; former Senator representing Oyo Central, Senator Femi Lanlehin; former Oyo State First Lady, Chief (Mrs.) Kemi Alao-Akala; Oyo APC Chairman, Chief Moses Alake-Adeyemo; ex-Minister of Youth and Sports Development, Sunday Dare; and Senator Fatai Ibikunle, among other party leaders and chieftains.
The meeting also focused on mobilising support for President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s re-election bid and securing the APC’s victory in Oyo State in 2027.
In a message shared after the meeting, Folarin said he had decided to put personal grievances behind him, stressing that the overriding interest of the party and its members must take precedence over individual disagreements. He acknowledged that party members had endured nearly eight years in opposition in Oyo State, noting that the prevailing circumstances required a renewed commitment to unity, mutual respect and collective responsibility.
According to him, internal disagreements should not be allowed to undermine the party’s collective aspirations, particularly as preparations gather momentum for the 2027 elections.
“Our differences must not divide us. Unity, mutual respect and collective responsibility must guide our actions as we move forward together,” Folarin stated.
His latest position comes against the backdrop of efforts to strengthen the APC’s internal cohesion and bring critical stakeholders together ahead of what is expected to be another keenly contested political season in Oyo State. The former Senate Leader’s emphasis on reconciliation and setting aside personal differences signals a renewed call for cooperation among party leaders, stakeholders and members as the APC works towards rebuilding its political base in the state.
With the 2027 elections approaching, the ability of the party’s various tendencies to work together is expected to remain a major issue in its preparations for the contest.
