Ancient city of Ile-Ife, revered as the cradle of the Yoruba race, came alive on Sunday as traditionalists, monarchs, cultural enthusiasts and devotees from across Nigeria and the diaspora converged on the city for the colourful 2026 Alaragbo Festival.
The annual cultural and spiritual celebration, which also marked the fourth coronation anniversary of Yeye Alaragbo Oodua, Omo'ba Yeye Abiye Osunbunmi Abike Ifasemilore, showcased the enduring richness of Yoruba heritage, traditional religion and communal unity.
The event began at the palace of the Ooni of Ife, where Her Majesty, Olori Ashley Afolasade Ojaja Ogunwusi, joined Yeye Alaragbo Oodua in leading a grand procession on foot from the palace to the sacred Alaragbo Grove. The spiritual train attracted hundreds of devotees, chiefs, traditional rulers and worshippers who accompanied the procession in an atmosphere of reverence and celebration.

One of the major attractions at the grove was the spectacular appearance of different Orisa devotees, Egbe groups and numerous beautifully adorned Arugba maidens whose elegant traditional attire added glamour and cultural splendour to the occasion.
