Ibadan, the political and social capital of Oyo State, witnessed a remarkable convergence of influential personalities on Sunday, November 1, as the long-running disagreement between two prominent National Union of Road Transport Workers (NURTW) leaders, Musiliu Akinsanya, popularly known as MC Oluomo, and Mustapha Adekunle, aka Tafa Sego, received another significant boost towards lasting reconciliation.
The occasion was the grand 80th birthday celebration of the father of popular Ibadan businessman and socialite, Kayode Ogunlowo, fondly known as K Manchy, which provided an opportunity for influential traditional rulers, business moguls, political heavyweights and entertainment personalities to converge at the popular Sunlight Event Centre, Ibadan.
At the centre of the reconciliation effort was Fuji music legend, King Wasiu Ayinde Marshal, popularly known as K1 De Ultimate, who was joined by other prominent personalities, including Alhaji Saheed Omogbolahan Adigun, popularly called Oba Mobil, and the Olora of Ora, Kwara State, HRM Oba Rilwan Olawale Aremu Yekini, popularly known as Oba Cooler.
Their intervention further reinforced the peace initiative earlier championed by K1, who had brought the two NURTW chieftains together at his Ojusagbola residence in Ijebu-Ode, Ogun State, in September.
The earlier meeting, which attracted considerable public attention after videos and photographs emerged online, saw the Fuji icon appeal to both men to put their differences behind them.
MC Oluomo is the National President of the National Union of Road Transport Workers (NURTW), while Tafa Sego is the Lagos State Chairman of the union.
K1, who holds the traditional title of Mayegun of Yorubaland, reportedly leveraged his relationship with the two men to encourage a peaceful resolution of their differences.
The development was subsequently described by his media team as a final settlement.
Sunday's gathering in Ibadan therefore provided another high-profile opportunity for the peace initiative to receive public affirmation, with influential personalities from different walks of life lending their presence to the reconciliation atmosphere.
A gathering of political heavyweights
Beyond the reconciliation story, the birthday celebration was a major society event, attracting an impressive assembly of political leaders, traditional rulers, business executives, socialites and entertainment personalities from Oyo State and beyond.
Among the prominent political figures at the occasion were Senator Sharafadeen Abiodun Alli, the All Progressives Congress (APC) governorship candidate in Oyo State for the 2027 election, and his running mate, Hon. Michael Adesoji Adedeji.
Also in attendance was Dr. Zacch Adedeji, Executive Chairman of the Nigeria Revenue Service (NRS), alongside notable APC chieftains, including Hon. Sina Alabi and Oloye Akinade Fijabi.
Their presence, alongside several other influential political stakeholders, gave the celebration a distinctly APC flavour, making it one of the notable social gatherings bringing together prominent members of the party and its supporters in recent times.
The attendance of Senator Alli and his running mate was particularly noteworthy against the backdrop of preparations for the 2027 Oyo governorship election, with political stakeholders increasingly taking advantage of major social gatherings to strengthen relationships and interact across different interests.
Alli and Adedeji were formally unveiled as the APC's governorship ticket in July, with the party subsequently intensifying efforts to consolidate its political structure ahead of the forthcoming election.
K1 takes over the bandstand
Music, glamour and entertainment were equally major attractions at the celebration, with K1 De Ultimate taking charge of the bandstand.

The Fuji maestro, renowned for his ability to transform social gatherings into memorable entertainment experiences, delivered the kind of musical atmosphere befitting an occasion of such magnitude.
His presence added considerable glamour to the celebration, while the gathering of prominent personalities provided an impressive spectacle for guests and admirers.
For many attendees, seeing K1 not only entertaining guests but also playing a prominent role in the reconciliation atmosphere between MC Oluomo and Tafa Sego made the occasion particularly remarkable.
K Manchy delivers a celebration befitting his status
As the host and organiser, Kayode Ogunlowo, popularly known as K Manchy, undoubtedly delivered a celebration befitting his standing in Ibadan's social and business circles.
The choice of the popular Sunlight Event Centre, the impressive calibre of personalities in attendance and the general atmosphere of the occasion combined to make the 80th birthday celebration a memorable affair.
The event was not merely a family celebration but a meeting point for influential personalities whose connections cut across business, politics, traditional institutions, entertainment and organised social circles.
K Manchy's ability to attract such an impressive collection of personalities further underscored the relationships he has built over the years.
From traditional rulers and business leaders to politicians, entertainment personalities and prominent socialites, the celebration had virtually all the ingredients of a major society gathering.
For the celebrant's family, the occasion offered an opportunity to celebrate the milestone of an octogenarian surrounded by distinguished guests, friends, associates and well-wishers.
Ultimately, Sunday's gathering will be remembered not only for the grandeur of the 80th birthday celebration but also for the symbolic convergence of influential personalities around the reconciliation of two prominent figures in Lagos transport union politics.
With K1's earlier intervention in Ijebu-Ode and the renewed atmosphere of reconciliation in Ibadan, the occasion offered another opportunity for MC Oluomo and Tafa Sego to demonstrate that peace and cooperation remain possible despite previous disagreements.
For K Manchy, it was an 80th birthday celebration that went beyond the ordinary, combining family thanksgiving, high society entertainment, political networking and an important moment of Yoruba social diplomacy.
