Senator Ned Nwoko has appealed to fans, friends, bloggers and social media commentators to stop mounting pressure on his estranged wife, Nollywood actress Regina Daniels, urging the public to give her adequate space and support to recover from her health challenges.
Nwoko, who made the appeal in a statement shared on social media on Monday, November 2, expressed concern over what he described as the circulation of false, disturbing and fabricated reports about the actress, particularly fake announcements of her death.
He said the continued publication of misleading stories about Regina was causing her emotional distress at a time when she needed compassion, understanding and an opportunity to focus on her recovery.
The senator also appealed to her fans and well-wishers to discourage the spread of such content rather than contribute to its circulation for social media engagement.
According to him, Regina has endured more than many people realise, adding that her birthday video, in which she offered a glimpse into her health struggles, should encourage compassion rather than criticism and public condemnation.
He stressed that her well-being remained important to him despite the difficulties that had characterised their relationship, noting that concern for her condition was among the issues that brought their private family circumstances into the public domain.
Nwoko further expressed worry about the impact of social media speculation on their children, insisting that they deserved to see their mother receive love, encouragement and every opportunity to get better.
He maintained that the children were being well cared for and urged members of the public to avoid actions capable of worsening the situation.
Taking a firmer position against bloggers and social media users allegedly responsible for spreading fabricated stories, the Delta North senator warned that he would not tolerate deliberate misinformation concerning Regina's death, health or personal circumstances.
He disclosed that publications promoting such claims were being documented, warning that those found responsible could face legal consequences through appropriate channels.
Nwoko described the circulation of fake death announcements and other hurtful reports as unacceptable, arguing that such publications were not harmless entertainment but potentially damaging content capable of adding to the actress' emotional burden.
Background to the marital crisis
The appeal comes against the backdrop of the highly publicised marital crisis between Nwoko and Regina, whose relationship has remained a subject of intense public debate since their separation.
The appeal comes against the backdrop of the highly publicised marital crisis between Nwoko and Regina, whose relationship has remained a subject of intense public debate since their separation.
The couple got married in May 2019 in a traditional ceremony in Aniocha Local Government Area of Delta State.
Their union attracted considerable attention because of the significant age difference between the politician and the actress, who was 19 at the time.
They have two sons, Munir and Khalifa, whose welfare and custody have also featured prominently in the controversy surrounding their relationship.
Their marital disagreement became widely publicised in October 2025 following allegations and counter-allegations involving domestic abuse, substance use and other personal matters, with both parties presenting different accounts of the circumstances surrounding their separation.
The dispute subsequently extended to legal proceedings concerning the welfare and custody of their children, further intensifying public interest in the family's affairs.
Public attention returned to Regina's health in October 2026 when she marked her 25th birthday in a wheelchair and disclosed that she had experienced difficulties walking freely for several months.
The actress explained that what initially appeared to be a minor health concern had worsened, with pain sometimes making movement difficult. She, however, indicated that she had noticed improvements in her recovery.
Nwoko's latest intervention appears aimed at curbing the growing wave of speculation surrounding the actress while drawing attention to the need to protect her privacy and emotional well-being.
His warning also sends a strong message to bloggers and social media operators that exploiting sensitive personal circumstances, particularly through fabricated health and death reports, could attract legal consequences.
